Bird courses a 2nd yr can take
So, most of the other threads are pretty old, but i need something a little more recent. What are good EASY courses a 2nd yr science student can take. I'm probably gonna go in for the Bio-Psych program and for 2nd yr I only have one more spot left for an elective. All my courses are either Bio or Psych! Don't get me wrong, I'm probably gonna love my courses, but i need something relatively stress free... Possibly AWAY form the faculty of Science? Maybe English courses? A sociology course?

I found these courses VERY easy:
Big Questions, Life Sci 2H03, Life Sci 2A03, BIO 2F03, Earth Sci 2WW3, Enviro 1B03.
When in doubt pick an enviro sci / earth sci course

It all depends what you're good at, and whether the course material appeals to you or not. With that being said, I found English 1A03 (Shorter Genres), History 1BB3 (Global 20th Century), and Classics 1B03 (Intro to Greek/Roman Myth and Lit.) pretty easy. As long as you can keep up with the readings and the essays, you should be fine. Out of that list, 1BB3 was probably my favourite class though - very interesting material.

Second year eh? I'd go with Science 2B03, Earth Sci 2EI3, Life Sci 2H03. The thing about English and Sociology courses is that they are very time consuming because of extensive readings...but if that's not a problem, go for it!

As a warning, Humanities courses tend not to have a lot of hours of class, but we have a lot of work outside of class. Our readings are extensive and you can't half ass discussion if you want good marks.
English 1A03- poetry and short stories. This might be good for you because of the length of the reading material. It does not require the same amount of dedication as 1AA3. The prof (Zuroski-Jenkins) is a sweetheart and a total babe. I loved the course.
History 1BB3- The prof (Mukharji) is a pretty kick ass guy who is obviously passionate about his work. The material is interesting because it's recent history. Think of it like a course on the most interesting Wikipedia articles on the most influential events in modern history. Stuff like american politics, the invention of the computer and internet, and several wars. He does not upload his lectures on Avenue till a week before the exam because he wants you to come to lecture. Attending class is worth your while.
Peace Studies 1A03- Man, this course is so good. Lots of interesting discussion surrounding past and current events, from self-immolation in order to make a statement to the events happening in Egypt. You learn a lot about the world, past and present. The prof is a hippie but he has no sense of humour. He's still a good guy though. His slides are skeleton slides, with the most basic points, and you have to decide what is worth writing down. If you take this class, go to lecture, even if you plan on never writing anything down.
Also, no course is really stress free. It's just a different type of stress.

Apparently Mukharji's gone, at least that's what I heard. At the very least he's not teaching it next year. Unfortunate because he was awesome.

whaaaaaaaaat. Mukharji was amazing.
Either way, I doubt the course changed that much. Maybe this time the prof will actually upload slides on avenue, so all the more reason to take it!

I have to say. From my own experience, I have not found a course at mac that is what most people (including myself) define as a bird course. I have taken enviro sci 1A03, econ 1B03, psych 1X03, psych 1XX3, and psych 2E03 (sensory processes) and i have to say, i underestimated all of them. All courses take lot of studying and reading in order to get a good mark. My suggestion is to take a course that you like and find the content interesting. That way, you wont mind studying the necessary 3 hours a night for it lol.

Linguistics 1A03
2 lectures and 1 tutorial a week. Assignments and quizzes were really easy. The midterm and exam weren't too bad either.
