I heard about it from another one of my profs, he also teaches at Mohawk College and they use D2L over there. He says one of the nice things is that since they're in Kitchener, when you DO have an issue, they take care of you quickly and from his experience, they'll bend over backwards for you. Can't say the same for Blackboard, whose head office is in Washington DC and the Canadian offices are in Vancouver.
ELM is so bad, that this term only ONE of my four courses actually is using ELM, even though they're all supposed to. It's much easier and faster for the teachers to load stuff onto the podium computers and everybody just grabs their USB and distributes accordingly. Small classes in B.Tech can do that, I doubt other big classes could.
D2L? Bring it on. Anything's gonna be better than the shitshow that ELM is.
