3rd and 4th year science courses
Hello,
Anyone know any good 3rd and 4th year science courses (ones where 11-12 is possible)?
Also, if you know any non-science courses, please share!

one would hope that by level III/IV your taking courses because you enjoy them, not because they are easy

I do take courses that I enjoy, however, I'd like some easier courses to balance out my work load. I have to keep in mind that I have other commitments (extracurriculars, work, volunteering, thesis). I don't want to burn out so I don't see the harm in taking like 2 easy courses (one per semester). I also don't want to give up my other activities because i like doing them, so seems like a fair compromise.

There's no need to be rude; mac offers a lot of courses but for some people who have less "eclectic" tastes there are certain limitations imposed. On top of that, many interesting/fun courses (particularly those that a science student is interested in taking) have prerequisites that either cannot be bypassed or would require you to backtrack too far to take - as I'm sure you know...
I too agree with the thread-starter in that it is necessary to balance your workload with 1-2 "easier" courses mixed into your usual "I really enjoy this class but to get an A I will need to give it special attention" and "Why oh why do I have to take this class to take interesting things (re: BIOCHEM 2EE3)" courses.
Despite this, I definitely agree with the point made that pursuing a course based on someone saying it is 'easy' is a fallacy. It usually has to backfire once or twice for someone to realize it, as it did for myself, but it's a lesson we all have to learn! |

If you're interested, I'd check out courses offered in the following:
Theatre & Film
Multimedia
Classics
History
Those are my go-to (in that order) for electives that give contrast to all the mountains of science we do, as well as tapping into some of my hobbies/interests. Kinesiology courses are also a good change of pace for science students as they more often are a little more 'relaxed' and have different grade breakdowns (everyone loves a course without a final!) here and there. If you haven't taken the first year kinesiology courses (1A03/1AA3) on anatomy/physiology (if you're into it), I'd definitely recommend those two.

I have looked at course reviews for potential electives but some have not been updated in a year, maybe even 2. For most required science courses, there are recent reviews. They've been helpful in terms of determining the mark breakdown, emphasis on lecture notes vs. textbook etc.

as i see it , there should not be any reason for rudeness and disrespect in this forum, and if one should comment, the purpose of this site is to help.
