Academic Probation
Hi, I was wondering how you would know that you are on academic probation. Do they send you a letter or do they phone you?

It usually takes a while for McMaster to update it. But if you go into your grades for the Winter term you may notice a pop-up message saying "Term statistics are not yet available" or something like that. When term statistics become available, underneath your grades you will see a chart and at the bottom there's a category called "Academic Standing". It will say there if you're under probation, otherwise it will say "Good Standing". Or you can just read the undergraduate calendar to find out what GPA constitutes academic probation for your program and calculate it yourself. No one will phone you or mail you a letter, it's all on you.
