Admission for Life Science
Hey, I'm applying to life science and I'm getting kind of nervous because i don't think my grades can make it
English 78 -
Chemistry 86
Adv Functions 87
Calculus 90
Philosophy 80
Biology 80
it averages out to 83.5, and the cutoff range is 83-86. and some of my friends have gotten into environmental science already.
Am i screwed?

Should be okay, I think, just fight really hard for the rest of the school year. There are stories on here of people getting in despite being below the cut off.
Have you applied to Enviro sci as well? If so, don't worry, the mail system is stupid and people can wait weeks for letters sent the same day.
ALSO, I think it's worth your while to consider physical science, since you seem stronger in that and math, and comparatively weak in Bio (which is basically whayt life sci is).

Engineering FTW those are strong math and chem marks, you might want to consider engineering.

Good point, though I don't see any physics there, and I think you need it for ENG I at least.
Either way, don't worry, there was kids with worse entering averages than you kicking around.

Thanks a lot. I may consider engineering, but I like biologyish subjects more. I also love math but I feel that bio is a lot cooler. I also read other posts and saw that most admissions depend on how many people are applying and their grades, but when are the absolute latest offers sent?
Also again thanks a lot for the responses!

Hrm... I think it's near the end of May, so there's lots of time still.

No, not the end of May - now-ish.
I've got the acceptance email Tuesday and the mailed package yesterday. 83.5 "might" not cut it; my conditional offer says that I have to keep an 84 or over average to stay in....

Dont let first year biology affect your passion for it. First year bio is bland and mostly review. Also take a look at Chemical Engineering for Level 2, it seems like a perfect fit for you or Biomedical Engineering.

And just to reiterate: Get in the Enviro Sci application. You can shadow the Life Sci program and transfer to Hons Life Sci or pick a Life Sci related major at the end of Level I.

Or do physical sci. Both enviro and physical sci are good options, just make sure you take the appropriate electives!

even if they were, letters for acceptance have already been sent out so would it still work? maybe late acceptance? i guess it doesnt hurt to try. also if i can boost my mark to maybe 85, would i be eligible for final acceptance? or is final acceptance super risky?
