being a TA?
I'm in first year engineering and I want to be a TA next year. But is there any TA positions for second year students? even a marking TA?
Also, I'm a international student so I'm not eligible for OSAP. Is that mean I can't apply for TA or the chance of being hired is low? (so I heard from others)
Thanks.

I don't even know if it's possible to become a TA in 2nd year. Very often, I hear from the introductions of TA's that they're either in 4th year, have a B.Eng or higher. That's just my two cents.

You can become a TA for 1D04, 1P03 or 1C03. Go talk to Jeanne Norris on the second floor (I forget her room number, but if you search for her in the directory you'll find it). Being an international student doesn't hurt your chances.

Usually when they need TA's for the first year courses (1D04, 1P03, 1C03) they'll send out an e-mail with all the requirements and how to apply sometime in the next couple months.

Thanks all of you.
What about physics or math TA? If anyone could provide more info and/or experience, I will appreciate.

I'm pretty sure that for both math and physics you have to either be in 4th year or a graduate student. I'm not 100% sure about that but that is what I've been told before!

Information for application to become a Math TA:

Note: Generally it appears to be difficult to get a position as a math TA, although taking more math courses can increase your chances.

Then I'll try to reach Jeanne Norris later for this matter. Thanks you all again.

I've come across a few 2nd year TA's/ people who have been TA's since 2nd year, but only for engineering courses as mentioned above. Apparently you need at least an A/A- for that course to be a TA for it. Pretty sure Physics TA's are all grad students.
