Best Easy Electives for LifeSci Student?
Hi everyone,

I'm new to MacInsiders and I'm coming to McMaster this fall for life science. I already know that I want to take:

Bio 1A03
Bio 1M03
Psych 1X03
Psych 1XX3
Math 1LS3
Physics 1L03
Chem 1A03
Chem 1AA3

...but I still have room for two courses.

Even though I love science, I'm actually good at writing essays so social science courses could work for me. I also like singing so is there a choir course or club I can join?

Thank you so much!

Hi, Anna. I am in life sci I next year too. Have you already decided which level II program you are dead set on? I have not so instead of taking social sciences or what not (I actually enjoy music and hitory) I am taking another math and more science courses. If you take more maths and sciences in first year you are eligible for more level II programs. This is just a tip because I don't know any courses outside the math and science ones. I hope you get the answers you want!

Probably better to chase your interests so you're not bored at school and makes school more worthwhile. You'll even more likely enjoy the work for the course if you interested it in.

Yes, definitely look at what level II program you might apply for and take the prereqs. I had an idea when I was choosing first year courses so I did end up taking more math and science.

Thanks guys. I ended up choosing Earth Sc 1G03 because it's a prerequiste for gemstones in second year, which seems like an interesting course. I also chose English 1A03 just to see if it's something I may want to consider doing in the future since I'm not dead set on science.

For second year, I looked up requirements for psychology/neuroscience and life sci honors and it said both chems and both psychs so I'm doing that. The only thing I'm missing is physics 1B03 but that can be completed in second year, which I think I'll do rather than having a huge physics load in first year since I'm terrible at it.
