Probably a stupid question, but I haven't had an open book test (other than quizzes) since I was in early high school a good 9 or 10 years ago.

Anybody have any tips on how to best prepare?

Make concise notes, if possible. Sticky tab things so you can easily find information. Make sure you're familiar with where things are in your notes. In general just get everything organized.

Yea mark important formulas/tables/figures. Learn the concepts more important than memorizing equation. Also, when you don't know, use the index.

Dont rely on simply learning locations of information in the textbook. A lot of times an open book exam can mean that the answers will not always be located in the textbook. Instead, the basic concepts that you need to be able to apply to come to an answer will likely be found in the textbook. I guess what im saying is dont just mark up your textbook and feel as though you are prepared for the exam. Do the practice problems provided and go over previous tests, labs, etc.
