Biochem "Strongly" Recommended Courses
I'm going to be in the life sciences program in September and I'm interested in doing biochemistry in my second year. So, of course, I'm going to be taking all the pre-reqs. They also "strongly recommend" taking physics 1BB3 and math 1B03 as well.

I've been hearing that some people who didn't take these are doing just fine, but I've also heard that it can be hard to do without. Do I really need to take them?

I can't fit both into my schedule, so if I were to choose one, which would be more beneficial?

Thanks.

So you actually NEED physics 1B03 to do biochem. If you dont do it first year you have to do it second year. Math 1B03 is just "recommended" ... most people I know in Biochem didn't take it.

I think you misread; he said physics 1BB3, not 1B03.

Anyway, you should be fine without them. I talked to an advisor for the biochemistry program and she said that it's not needed. They're not actual prerequisites to any of the upper-year biochemistry courses.
