Biology 1P03

Biology 1P03 is an introductory biology course meant for students who don't have Grade 12 U Biology, as such the course was not terribly difficult but the difficulty level was much higher than a typical high school course. The professor (Dr. Kajiura) lectures very well, and posts lecture outlines and supplementary information that comes in handy.

The midterm and the final are fairly easy to do as long as you know the material and have been going to class/tutorial regularly. She tends to ask a lot of factual questions, and sprinkles some application-style questions occasionally. The one assignment we had to do, that was worth 15%, was basically writing about a biological phenomenon in 500 words, in the most interesting way you could.

The course content is interesting for the most part, especially parts about ecology and biodiversity. It's really eye opening and depressing. Definitely a must if you're interested in learning about the environment and the effects that human activity has had.

The breakdown was like this:
- Quizzes (4 x 5%) = 20%
- Newspaper Article Assignment = 15%
- Midterm 25%
- Final 40%

8.5/10

Kajiura likes to baby and mother her students. I'll never forget how often she reminded us in class to either take notes, or to not take notes because the info was on the slides.

This was an awesome course, not only because of the content but also because how organized it was in terms of having supplementary lecture notes which were then updated later on with the answers and how easy the textbook was to follow and read. The prof was amazing, very caring and gave many hints as to what should be taken note on for exams

This is a great stepping stone for those with no or little previous experience in Biology. Dr.Kajiura is a great lecturer and really like to drive points forward. She really wants you to understand and love Biology as much as you do. As long as you go and participate in lecture a 12 is easy in this course.
