Biology 4E03
I was really looking forward to this course, but was unfortunately disappointed. The content itself wasn't bad, there was some conceptual overlap with Mol Biol 4DD3 (Molecular Evolution). It looked at evolutionary models, examining Hardy-Weinberg (especially genetic drift), sexual selection, and population equilibrium in more detail, and introducing the Neutral Theory and Nearly Neutral Theory of evolution. The class was fairly small (~25 students), which was nice.
Assignments made use of statistics, while the midterm and final had no calculations and were all short answer. Lectures were quite dull, it seemed that nobody was paying attention. One thing that was really frustrating was the lecture notes - numerous files would be posted under each week, some with the same titles but different slides, some with a few slides being the same here and there, etc. It was very confusing. There was also confusion amongst the class with tutorial marks. The course outline said 20% of the mark was for "Tutorial", which many students believed included attendance and completion of the assignments. However, attendance stopped being taken after a few weeks and marks were handed back for the assignments.

so the midterm and exams were more theory/conceptual?
how were the questions in terms of fairness/difficulty?
