Despite what you guys say, there were differences between the candidates if you bothered enough to look for them.
Im really angered by the disdain being shown for Democracy here. You had 15 different people to vote for, covering virtually every corner of the political spectrum....if you think there's not enough options, your insane. The right to choose who leads you is something that should be incredibly valued. The fact that you are showing such disregard for a right that our ancestors died for, and millions around the world continue to die for, quite frankly disgusts me.
Why don't you move to North Korea or Saudi Arabia, stay a year, and come back and tell me democracy is a joke.

Apparently you have no reading comprehension whatsoever.
"My mom made me vote for him."
"Democracy is a joke."
Figure it the **** out.
Maybe if she said something along the lines of, "My mom is a big fan and after I researched it myself, I came to agree with her," but she didn't.
Get off your high horse.

You've taken what you said completely out of context to defend yourself here. You said "One of the many reasons why democracy is a joke" thus suggesting you find many more reasons why you find democracy to be a joke. So J-met is entirely justified in his anger for your slander of the political process that you are more-or-less blessed to have.

On topic: Don't believe in voting. And even if I did, I don't care.

From the other municipal elections thread. I tend to think your disapproval of democracy is not just situationally based on her mom telling her how to vote.

[email protected] at someone else's legitimate views. Take a pill.
Also, [email protected]
Do I need to remind everyone of the ****ing Coke thing from last year?
Plenty of reasons why the masses shouldn't be allowed to vote.
But I'm glad you can address the issue, J-Met.
I can see how me disagreeing with democracy > people voting because their "parents made them."

I like to think that being politically active gives credibility to my defense of democracy. I don't care if you support the Liberals, or if you support the Conservatives, or if you support the Communist party.
What I'm saying is that the democratic process allows you to voice those opinions and actually affect change in the way you are governed. I'm not saying that democracy is flawless (by all means, the way the Liberals picked Ignatieff was NOT democratic), but what I'm saying that we are a hell of a lot better off than 90% of the world and I'm sick of people complaining about our democratic system when they are not even trying to make it better.

So jachill is a tool because of one post she made?? If you bothered to actually read her posts you would know that she agreed with her mother on who to vote for, so you really have no justification. The fact is the tools are the peole who didnt bother to vote, not someone who voted for the person they beleived was right for the job based on their own opinion.

I WASN'T GOING TO VOTE BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE TIME! THAT's why my mom had to MAKE me. I was going to vote for Bretina ANYWAY. Jfc...

Why do people feel as if they must react so strongly on the littlest thing said?
annnnd I didn't vote because I was on campus during the poll times. I tried looking for a booth on campus but I couldn't seem to find one.

The city pulled the on campus booths because only 10 votes were cast in them last election.
Edit: Come to think of it.. it's more likely than not that those 10 votes were mainly McMaster staff.

You have to vote based on your home address. I believe only people in residences were allowed to vote at the actual McMaster polling station. That being said, 10 votes from all the rez students is still pretty bad ahah.
