Can I enlarge a print photo? (not digital)
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I have no clue about any of this stuff.
Is there somewhere I can go to enlarge a regular sized photo (5x7) into a bigger photo (8x10)? It's a printed version, I don't have a digital copy.
Thank you!

I am not sure if u wanna enlarge it to a bigger printed picture or to a normal picture ... last year at mills they helped me print a paper , but it wasn’t the size that I wanted, so they took it and literally "enlarged" the printing on the paper, on a bigger paper", I was surprised..
your question is not stupid, no question is a stupid question !

You can scan the photo (scanners available in libraries) so that you have a digital version of it. Then just take the file to any photo development store and print it to the size that you want.

Do you think it will remain in good quality once it's bigger? Or will it look all pixel-y?

What impression are you under in turning a smaller photo bigger? Its going digital no matter what, but turning it into a file just gives you more freedom as to where you can print it... englargment 'quality'/'pixelyness' depends on the scanner's and printer's resolutions.

Photo Enlargement
Check out Fortino's. They might have it there. I know the one in Ancaster does. My family just had a bunch of old photos enlarged for an event. They also did some restoration, remastering old, yellowed photos.

I agree with this! I did it at the Fortino's in Burlington a while back.

Also you could go out to the Wal-Mart in Ancaster, they have a photo center that takes prints and enlarges them.

It shouldn't look pixelated if you are going from 5x7 to 8x10. However, it will obviously be a bit more blurry and not as sharp. This is true whether you scan it yourself, or take it to an actual store.
I recommended scanning it yourself, because it will be cheaper than having someone scan and enlarge the image for you. The image quality in the end will likely be the same, as they will be employing the same technique.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I've used the Walmart photo machines tons of times for digital pics, but I figured enlarging a printed photo would make it incredibly blurry. I'll try this week!
