Chem 2E03 Course Review?
Hey,

I can't seem to find a course review for Chem 2E03, which is a prerequisite for Biochem 2EE3...
Has anyone taken it and can let me know about the course breakdown and difficulty and such? Organic chemistry in first year wasn't my strongest area and I'd like to not continue with chemistry so I was wondering if taking Biochem 2EE3 is worth trying out in second year life sci...Also, what is the difficulty of it compared to the second year organic chems (20A3 & 20B3)?

Thanks!

I Loved this course!! If you plan on taking this course, make sure you know you can't take any higher orgos. There are 3 assignments, a midterm and a final when I took it two years ago. Dr. Mackenzie goes slow because she really wants you to understand it. I loved taking this class with her and I recommend it over the other two IF you know you won't need it (ex med schools in the US need you to take 20A3 and 20B3).

Quizzes (4): 20% [5% each]
Test 1 : 20%
Test 2 : 20%
Exam : 40%

2E03 is by far easier than 2OA and 2OB!!! From what i've heard Biochem isnt too bad

1st year Orgo wasn't my best mark too, however I was able to do really well in this class. In terms of difficulty, i found that studying really hard for the quizzes would easy stress and amount to study for the tests, as his tests weren't harder than the quizzes. Dr. Peter Belshaw taught when I took it (Hes new).

To do well in this class Practice is KEY! Try to read the book and exhaust all the questions in the "Skill Practice" section and the back of the chapter. Once u get the hang of things u'll ZIP right thru them. Also, once u get the first couple of chapters pat down, the rest of the course is just different variations and special cases.

His final exam was hard, but if u did all the studying an practice u were fine.
