Classics 2LA3
This course was very interesting and well taught. The prof, Dr. S. Corner, was very detailed with his teachings and always ready to talk to you after class, during office hours or via email. He was very helpful to me with my questions about the class and about a career in classics.
The course itself covers the first half of traditional Greek history. From the rise of Greece as small villages to the splendor of Athens, Corinth and Sparta at the prime of their existence. All aspects of the various Greek states and their colonies are explored: sexuality, marriage, war, politics, athletics, slavery, foreigners, the family, religion etc.
Your texts will include both primary (in translation) and secondary sources. You will do a research paper where you are required to incorporate both secondary and primary sources.
The thing to keep in mind with this course is that it is very detailed and can be hard if you fall behind. Keep on top of your readings, go to every class and you'll do alright!
Course breakdown:
Test 1- 15%
Test 2- 20%
Research Essay- 30%
Final- 35%
