Short question: I deferred my exam in May and I am writing it on June 20th. Will I be able to do my course selection the same day as all the other third years (June 7th) or do I have to wait until my marks come out for the deferred exam?

I don't think you would, no. I had to write a deferred exam last summer and was able to register for my third year regardless. I think it would only be an issue if you didn't have enough units yet to enter the next level of your program.
