Double majoring doesn't mean you take more credits or classes than the regular major, unless you decide to 'overload' on classes and take more than the normal amount each year. So the amount of credits should remain the same or close to it.
When you double major, it typically just means that you end up taking required courses for the 2nd major, in place of your electives. (with permission from the faculty, etc)
I did a double major in Humanities for Communication Studies & Multimedia, and loved it. I was able to major in two fields that I love, and really focus on them.
