Move in about two months ago, and just had a large wooden ornament torn out of my front yard (it was chained down to the lawn) and stolen this week.

While I am unsure if this is because the community secretly doesn't want an Asian family settling down there or if this is a result of pre-existing property disputes in the neighbourhood--or if the children here are intent on raising my ire--I would not recommend housing here. Not that anyone would typically come out this far anyway.

It was probably just drunk teenagers. That happens in literally every small town ever.

Unless you have a good reason to take this personally, you really shouldn't. As Sarah said, it's not all that uncommon no matter where you go.
