				How is econ 1bb3?

I heard it was harder than 1b03, but is it still a relatively easy course?

Really depends on you. I found 1B03 much more easier than 1BB3 and my mark showed it. I found 1BB3 to be more theoretical than 1B03 which I found to be more computational (though there is quite a bit of computation to be done in 1BB3 as well). I suppose I just found the theory in 1BB3 a bit harder to grasp whereas the theory in 1B03 for the most part was intuitive and straightforward to me.

It was similar in difficulty level It used the Aplia homework system which gave more opportunity for essentially free marks. Your mark in 1BB3 should be similar (+/- 1) to what you got in 1B03

they're very similar in difficulty with the content of the course. However, i had holmes for 1b03 and the tests/ exam was really easy. For 1bb3, i had oshaugnessey, and the tests weren't as easy but still do-able if you studied, however the exam was absolutely brutal. I dropped 2 grade points after the exam loool but in the end still ended up getting a mark close to what i got in 1b03.
You'll probably end up with marks similar to 1b03 in 1bb3 because there are extra aplia assignments which are like a free 15% boost

If you go to class, there's no reason you won't get an 11 or 12. Seriously. Some classes are as simple as go. to. class. I liked O'Shaughnessy a lot as a teacher, she's a super nice person as well.

Some ppl found it harder than bo3. I had oshaugensy and she was super good lecturer. too bad it was 830 and it was notes only (no slides you had to copy em down from ppt in class)

Holmes is super chill and saved my life in second year micro, but I think O'Shaughnessy is a better lecturer.

I honestly thought this course was pretty difficult. That being said, I'm a fourth year political science student who hasn't done anything like this since high school. I have a ton of friends who are in commerce and life sci who said they thought it was relatively easy, although they said 1B03 was much easier (which I didn't take). Apparently the first half of macro is really similar to the first half of micro, so if you took 1B03 already you should be fine.

I had O'Shaughnessy who was a great lecturer, but I thought her testing was quite hard. I found her questions to be unnecessarily wordy, and I felt like alot of her questions were designed to trick us lol. That being said it was a pretty interesting course so I don't regret taking it. Also it is podcasted, but she only puts up the mp3 and doesn't give you her slides.

Are they worth buying? I've heard from other people that textbooks aren't worth buying because the profs (Holmes) post the lecture slides?... Also, I was looking online for a possible pdf version and I found the American edition for the mankiw textbooks (latest editions).
Does anyone have experience using these American textbooks for the course? If so, were they the same/fine for the courses?
