Hannah Holmes gives out lots of bonus marks in 2G03. The other cores are taught by other profs and are completely separate -- different order, different tests. When I took 2G03 with Holmes, we wrote our exam with Bruce's core of the same class -- we wrote a two hour exam and they wrote a three hour. It's taught completely differently.
Our midterms were out of 20 and she gave us 2 marks in bonus - one in class that we'd earned beforehand (I think we had to identify a nascar driver by his number and then submit it to her, easy stuff as long as you're in class to receive it) and one was given to everyone. That's a 10% bonus on each test.
There were 3 or 4 in class quizzes that counted as bonus marks for the exam, which we could work together on. They weren't marked for correctness, just completion so everybody who showed up got the grades. Each counted as a 1 mark bump on the final, which was out of 35. So we got bumped around 10% on the final too if we'd done them all.
In short: take it with Holmes. And go to class.
