This course focused on the efficiency of different taxes and how they affected the well being of individuals. This content in this course is expressed math (equations graphs, etc), so knowledge of calculus and basic algebra is a must if one wants to do well in this course. The instructor for this course was James Bruce.

There are 3 midterms (each worth 15%) and an exam that is worth 40%. Tests are problems usually consist of 3-4 questions. Questions usually resemble examples done in class and old test questions, however, most of the time, are not identical (and by this, I don't mean that just the numbers are changed).

The exam consisted of 4 sections (each section containing material covered by each of the three midterms and a section covering material after the third midterm.

People with a strong quantitative background and people who have taken Econ 2GG3 will do very well in this course as it emphasizes the use of operations pertaining to calculus like taking derivatives as well as basic algebra and takes many concepts from 2GG3 and applies them to taxation.

Prof. Bruce, goes through examples and concepts (which are expressed with mathematical equations and graphs) rather quickly so it is imperative to make sure that one is familiar with math concepts before taking this course.

With hard work a 10+ in this class is a very realistic even if you are not a genius in math.

Also it is a critical that one goes to class because he does NOT post notes. He has his own website where he will post practice problems and announcements. He does NOT use avenue 2 learn
