Basically, I have one more course I need to take to complete a minor on Econ. I was set on finally being able to take Game Theory, but it conflicts with a Commerce course I want to take in the summer. Q_Q

ECON 3HH3 and 3S03 both seem somewhat appealing, but they're both in the same semester, and at the same time on the same day. I found the course outline for 3s03 on here but can't find the one for 3hh3. Regardless, it doesn't say too much about the course.

I guess for anyone who's taken any of these courses, what are your thoughts on it? Professor? Level of difficulty? Topics covered? more qualitative vs quantitative? etc

Take Econ 3C03, its taxation. From the tests i have seen the questions are fairly simple and Bruce is an awesome prof. Also have you taken 2H03 or 2HH3. I know Dr Khan is teaching both, so they should be 12able

These are the two courses I'm interested in taking, aside from Game Theory. I'm taking 2h03 as we speak, and I'd prefer to never have Khan ever again.

I don't care much for the level of difficulty, it's only gonna matter if they're both ridiculously hard or ridiculously easy. Either way, I'm more interested in the content.

This. He's such a bad prof. I stopped going to classes after a while - I like how he puts practice tests in the book along with the answers, but overall I thought he sucked as a teacher.

3S03 had really interesting topics but I didn't really like the profs teaching style. It is a pretty math and algebra/proof intensive course. I ended up with a 12 but I knwo a lot of people struggled with it.

Who was the professor? Can you elaborate on what you learned?

Sort of late but:

Professor for 3S03 has changed, I just finished up with Peter McCabe. Fairly easy course... until the final- which was outrageously difficult (which is how I found this thread). Peter is a great professor and among the nicest people in the world. His pacing is variable, slow when he isn't pressed for time, and quick when he runs out of it.

3HH3 I took with SenGupta, she's been my least favorite professor at Mac. The textbook for this course, in my opinion, was more valuable than the course itself.

hey, I am considering on taking an econ minor too. I am still missing 12 units. Do you need 3rd and 4th year courses to complete this minor? It says lvl 2,3, 4 economics courses so I was thinking I'd just take lvl 2 courses only XD.

So far I have:

econ 1b03, 1bb3
econ 2x03, 2j03
(was going to take 2h03 and 3 other courses to complete the minor)

2J03 and 2X03 are realy easy:S

You can take the rest of the 18 units in just pure level 2 classes, but be aware that some econ classes don't count towards the minor.

OH I see. Is it just the list of those level 2 courses that you can't have more than 6 units in?

Here are my courses I was gonna do:

Econ 2gg3, Econ 2H03, Econ 2HH3 and (maybe econ 2d03 or something else)
I already have 1b03, 1bb3, 2g03, and 2j03.

Yeah, I saw that on the undergraduate calendar. Was just a bit confused as to whether "lvl II, III, IV" is interpreted as lvl 2, 3 AND 4 or lvls 2, 3, OR 4 courses. It just seemed a bit odd that someone could get a minor in something without taking any of the lvl 3 or 4 th year courses :S

But thanks non the less.

Recommend any easy courses based on your experience so far in your pursuit of a minor in econ?

Yep, you can take them all in 2nd year courses if you wanted to, lol.

2gg3 with Bruce has been my favorite so far. And I like 3s03. And that's it. We only need 3 extra to get a minor, so yea. 2h03 with khan sucked...

Damn, I need 2h03 :( I should've taken it this summer with o'shaunessy. Alot of people said Khan is easy though.

I had Khan for econ 2j03. He's really hard to understand but the courseware had all the practice tests and quizzes with answers which made the real midterms really easy.

Would you say it was a similar experience for econ 2h03?

I got high 90s on each of the mid terms for 2H03, and he destroyed us on the exam. I still finished with an 11 but the course was much harder then 2j03. 2J03 was a lot of fun, it was essentially like not even having a course, and that exam was super easy.
