ECON courses
Has anyone started with ECON 1B03 and gone on to take more upper year courses simply as electives? I am thinking of doing this so how was it for you?
I have ECON 1B03 next semester and Hannah Holmes supposedly changed the course so it is harder this year? Does anyone know how bad it is? Would you choose it again if you could?
Thanks.

I just finished taking Econ 1B03, and I'm just waiting to write the exam. It is an easy course in terms of understanding the concepts and whatnot. You have to give enough time to understanding all the material because this term we had 9 quizzes in total in which she will take the top 5, where one quiz is worth 1%. Two tests worth 30% each and the final exam worth 35%. It isn't a hard course at all in my opinion. I attended all of the lectures to ask questions about stuff I didn't get and then re-listened to all of the lectures via the podcasts posted on A2L.

The course still isn't hard, 86 people got perfect or better on the last midterm, it's just not insanely easy anymore. With even the slightest bit of effort, the course should still be a guaranteed 10+.

This but it is a guaranteed 12 if you try to understand all the concepts and do all the suggested problems provided to you by the professor and follow along with the examples in the powerpoints.

Yes according to my friends who took it. They also say there's a lot to remember for midterms and such!

You don't really have to remember much. Like the first test/midterm it is mostly common sense. For the second test/midterm there is a fair bit of formulas/equations you should understand and have memorized, but if you pace everything it isn't bad at all.

yes it was changed this year. Why? some stupid kids last year got caught cheating twice on the same midterm or the blatent obvious memorizing of past quizzes just A B B D E A etc. Those common trends were caught and i believe some people got 0's for that , but that was cause they were caught cheating. The stupidest thing was some kid I heard walked out of the exam completing the exam in 30 minutes? That was way too obvious so they just changed the whole system to be not so "easy"
