Hi Hassan,

No one can really help you picking electives unless we know what courses genuinely interest you or what courses you have previously done well in (perhaps an indicator for future courses). If anyone tells you to pick course x or course y it's probably because they've enjoyed it/received a good mark in it/heard good things about it.

From my own personal experience, and the opinons I've gathered from others, Music 2II3 is the best course at McMaster. I would give it rankings like:

Workload: A
Interest: A+
Ability to score a high grade: A
Usefulness: B

Some people will say it's useless information, but it's just great knowledge to have. It teaches you the history of the last century and shows you the importance music had on society.

The workload is nothing. You just have to go to class, and write three tests. You don't even need the textbook. You can easily get a 10 or higher.

What about small classes (without TA's)? Where you can actually get to know the professor? I took a foreign language course this past year, and I liked getting to know the prof and people in the class...
Does anyone have any recommendations?

I didn't take 1A03, but assuming 1A03 is the same format as 1AA3 (and I believe it is since 1AA3 it basically the same thing but a century later) 2II3 is better. I actually enjoyed 1AA3 a lot, but 2II3 was more interesting since it's more recent. While 1A03/1AA3 focus strictly on the music/composers, 2II3 is more focused on society and musical innovation (but still covers all major artists).

jon.john23 says thanks to Circa for this post.
