ELM - Slow and lags
I've talked to other people and it's apparent that ELM is either extremely slow, or results in error pages. How do they expect us to use it as our main resource of learning when it doesn't even work properly? Are the profs aware of this? Is there a way to solve it? Thanks.

yeah, I don't see why they made the switch in the first place. I loved webct and RARELY had a problem with it. Now with ELM it takes like 5-10 seconds to load every page

ELM is new guys. Just relax as they work out the kinks. If ELM is down it means that the professors can't access it either. They will clearly have to work around it as the technicians do their job.

ELM is giving me a headache. I'm trying to watch Psych lectures and it just freezes and takes several minutes to start up again. Everything else takes years to load too. It's annoying, and while I might sound like a whiner, what was wrong with webCT? Psht.

Elm sucks. 9 out of 10 times when I click "My courses", nothing comes up. I have a bunch of courses listed that I'm not registered in, and 3 of my courses that I am registered in aren't even listed (and I know the profs have set up Elm for the course).
All the Help sections seem to be set up for the professor point of view. All the help stuff says "How do I change my class list" and "How do I upload files for my students" etc.
Sometimes "My courses" and the courses I click on load and load for like 10 minutes, and nothing ends up happening.
This is worse than SOLAR.

My guess is that Mac had to pay a lot of money to use WebCT. I think ELM is a McMaster-created thing, so it's cheaper for them.

I'm in the same boat. for like two minutes it was working really fast and then 3 minutes later it froze. The worst part is this is the only way to hear the psych lectures. If ELM doesn't start working properly I'll fail this class!

LOL ... relax guys. last year even WebCT had a few glitches. Its a new system, i took summer school for bio 2B03 ... and they used it first there and it seemed to work perfectly. But im guessing its just that its having problems when dealing with the sheer number of ppl online. Im guessing that shud've been 1st priority but i havent designed it so i dunno wat the actual prob is.
Just give it time ... it'll start working soon. And dont worry liz ... u wont fail psych ... its really one of the best courses i've taken in 1st year. Though the 1st term psych is kinda boring @ the beginning.

I still can't see any of the courses I am supposed to have access to on ELM. I'm beginning to worry and wonder if I should be getting help. Has anyone else experienced this sort of problem?

I remember very well last year how perfectly WebCT was working for me the moment it was made available to students on the first day of classes...

I don't have any problems with ELM at all... not today anyways. Everything has been loading under 4 seconds :\
