Exam Survival Event
There is one tonight for first year science students, from 7pm-9pm.
Has anyone attended these before? Are they worth the time? Thanks

On another note, did anyone who actually went to this get some interesting tip or whatever from the professors who were there that they want to use enough to remember (or remember enough to use)?

Thanks for all the feedback... lol...
Don't bother attending these in the future, they're a waste of time. Everything they do tell you, they post on Avenue ANYWAY
They tell you things like "get enough sleep, take 10 minutes break between studying periods...blah blah blah"
The professors also contradict what they say about studying patterns. One prof says study for 40 minutes at a time, while another says a hour, while another will say "it's really up to you"
Plus the room they had it in was too overcrowded, people had to sit on the stairs.
....And the microphone didn't work, so you couldn't hear much over people talking anyway.

Well I don't know why McMaster tells people to attend these. They call them Exam SURVIVAL Events....obviously being a first year I want to check it out. Now I know not to go to them in the future.

If you think about it, the name alone is going to stress students out. I mean, regardless of whether you go or not, calling it "exam survival" implies exams are something to survive, when really they should be trying to de-stress students. Seems like a good way to push students over the edge.

p.s. to add salt to the wound, many people got there only to find out that the room was packed and there was no room for them, because of the change of rooms they didn't have enough space. and then the upper year reps were like "that's okay, the stuff will be posted online anyway, and it's not really anything important". which just made me angry, personally, considering that I had to commute to get there.
