Failing a course while on academic probation
Hey all. It's the last couple of weeks of classes and I'm positive I'm going to fail one of my courses. I am on academic probation right now and I have a lot of my plate right now. My other courses will be relatively good but this one course had an assignment worth 25% that i'm handing 5 days late (including the weekend) with a penalty of 5% per day. Call it laziness, call it giving up. I just effed up so bad. I don't know what to do at this point.
I can't turn back the clock. Do you think I'll be kicked out at this point? I am trying to get into the second year English honours program. I still have second semester, I know I'll kill it the next round. But I'm worried sick that this will affect me.

What do you think fellow peers? Is it time to throw in the towel?

An assignment worth 25% is not much, so I don't think you will fail, even if you get 0% on that assignment, you still have the exam to make up for it (which I assume is worth more).
However, I am worried that if you cannot make it to second year (and not because you don't understand the material, but simply because you're too lazy to hand in an assignment on time, or even relatively close to the due date), I don't see how you're going to make it through all 4 years. I'm only in my third year right now, and for each course, I have approximately 50-80 pgs of reading/week, essays are almost all between 8-15 pgs, and if you don't put in your full effort, it's very hard to get by.

If you end up getting through this year and making it to second, I suggest you take it much more seriously, otherwise, don't waste your time, energy, or money.

I wouldn't give up for now, wait until you see your final mark, then I'd probably make a decision.

But frankly if I was barely passing and on academic probation, I would drop out. You aren't helping anyone by staying in university if you can't handle it, it's a waste of your time and money. I'd probably go to college, maybe even art school to draw cartoons for a living, or become a famous cook with my own restaraunt.

... or maybe I'd make movies that don't suck.
