Ah okay, I don't have any personal knowlege at all about this, I might have read something like this a few months back on the old thread; someone mentioned something along the lines that Quarters is not currently "in" with the upper years and they should do things like create a 19+ Saturday to bring them in. But hopefully things the cutting costs here and there and the flashy new look would bring in the crowds!

No, quite the opposite. Besides the people who feel morally insulted by Quarters, people who are in 3rd and 4th year love Quarters because as first year we all used to go down there and party.

How many students did "the establishment formerly known as Quarters" hire?

Couldn't tell you, but from what I do understand, and have seen the new layout will allow staff to be a lot more efficient, especially the bouncers and barbacks, allowing for the management to schedule around 3-5 fewer staff members a night (sizable savings if you think about it as being atleast 50 occasions in a year).

In my few times at Quarter's during lunch I found far too many staff on hand. I'd often see 3 or 4 waitresses standing around chatting and only a few customers actually in the restaurant. Sometimes more wait staff on than patrons - and yet the service always seemed dismal. Student jobs are great... but we're paying our own wages here - that definitely needs to be addressed.

Not that I'm around Mac anymore - but I hope for all incoming First Years especially that all this money getting poured into it and new management get the place up to what it should be as a campus bar.

Zactly what I saw..commented on this in an earlier post but the Donald Trump's on this forum figure because they've looked over an end-of-day tape that really whats needed is a $400,00 reno to make the bar "more efficient"...the inventory control system should have been put in long ago...they only cost $5-15K though depending on the bells n' whistles. A lotta free drinks have flowed from that bar...

Isn't it interesting how easy it is to spend someone else's money? Excellent training for a nice long cushy career in some government office playing with other people's money.

Am I the only one who thought that we should've brought in Restaurant Makeover?

They actually did bring in the company of the guy who is the host of Restaurant Makeover. They didn't want to put Quarters on the show for reasons I am not privy to, and his firm was QUITE expensive and the people tasked with shortlisting firms chose to move in a different direction.

Hey, next time you come up with ideas that are revolutionary, please let your SRA members know. I am sure that they are dying to hear ideas from brilliant people like you, with a time machine, years before their time.

Or you know... pretend you are not the average disgruntled engineer who contributes nothing to debate other than sardonic commentary which ignores the constructive comments that almost everyone else posts.

They tried a few years ago, and Resturaunt Makover was set to do it. A week before they pulled out for some reason which runs along the same lines as "this isnt a family resturaunt. We need that family who is losing all of their business to make for a good story on T.V."

So that is why that did not happen.

is the issue of all MSU people and other randomers getting in the back and constantly making it over capacity so those who wait dont have a chance, thus making even going to quarters a joke for everyone else being addressed this year? or just spending thousands of dollars to make it pretty? just wondering..

Yup, don't worry, the issue is being addressed.
