cultural studies is the study of culture which focuses on several subject areas -- pop culture, the media, race, gender, politics -- and takes from several disciplines, including english, psych, anthro, and sociology.

Yes. As with all xAA3 classes, you need to take the xA03 section first.
Well, what kind of a class are you thinking of, and how many credits do you have left, three or six?
Also, what are you good at, and what are you interested in?

For those going into Social Science, here is an old PowerPoint I dug up that is from 2005 and has some really great info in it.
Here's some of the career paths the presentation lists:
* Civil Services
* Education
* Environment
* Finance
* Health Care
* Human Resources
* International Affairs
* Law
* Marketing
* Social Services
With regards to GER 1A03, I haven't taken it, but have heard that all GERONTOLOGY courses are on the easy side, and are also interesting. If I come across someone who has taken the course I'll let you know!

I agree with Lorend regarding psych, whether you do well is based on the TA you get.
My TA wasn't very good, but the material was VERY interesting. I got a 12, even though my TA gave me a 64% on my midterm project.
Regarding the Multiple choice tests and exams, I can tell you this: if you are keen on performing well on those, you should do all the online practice Questions. Dr. Day pulls questions directly from that, and I previously saw almost every question on my test and exam beforehand. Those who didn't bother spending too much time doing the online practice tests, didn't do so well. However, I agree that his questions are very strange, which is because he did his PhD in multiple choice, but if you practice his type of questions you should have no problem.
I would also like to note, you can switch into another tutorial if you don't enjoy your current TA. This is true for almost all courses, not just psych.
Good luck deciding,
Paul

I picked my courses but had a hard time decided to take two second year courses. An anthro and a religious studies course. I'm thinking about majoring in psychology. I'm taking the 2 psych courses, bio, math, gerentology, a classics, inquiry and one more......
Do you have any advice....? Should i think again about taking those 2 second year courses?? I just found them really interesting.
Thanks
Kelsey

which anthro course? i'm an anthro major and i have a good idea what most of the courses are like by now.
however, from my own experience, i took a second year class in first year and got a little bit of a shock. i took pol sci 2XX3 having not taking pol sci 1A06, and there was material that was assumed knowlege from the first year class. as a result, i did poorly on my midterm. but, i did well on my paper.
depending on the course, this may happen to you as well.
