Geography 2RW3
Took this course in Fall 2014 with Dr. Mercier. It was the 2nd year being offered so Mercier rewrote some parts of the course for this year. The breakdown was 3 midterms (1 gets dropped and you're 2nd highest is worth 20% while your highest is worth 10%), reflection assignments (15%), a term assignment (15%) and a final exam (40%). It was a very interesting course where you learn about the world as a mosaic and how they all interact with each other and various issues involved around the globe. Mercier keeps you engaged and overall, it was well worth taking this course! With that said, it is not an easy course at all. Mercier expects you to have high standards when it comes to writing papers and the reflections/term paper was not marked easily. Many people did not do well and it hurt their mark considerably. As well, he expects you to read THE ENTIRE TEXTBOOK. Yes, the entire textbook should be read for the final exam and he pulls questions from it so you got to read it. The midterms were fair but they were pretty long so you had to be quick. The final was fair but again, it required a lot of writing for a 2 hour exam. This course is definitely interesting and gives you information about different parts of the planet which I found quite intriguing but at the same time it is not easy so be prepared to put in a lot of work for this course!
