Getting around forced graduation?
I have a friend who is in the Life Science program. Unfortunately, the counsellors in that faculty seem to be keen on either discouraging students or giving terrible advice.

Next year, my friend will have completed his degree requirements in the first term. However, he would like to stay for the entirety of the year. Will he be forced to leave the school after completing his degree requirement in Fall 2016 or will they allow him to continue studying in Winter 2017?

If he is indeed forced to graduate, will he be able to declare a minor in order to fulfil those requirements in the following term?

Thanks !

I believe once you completed your requirements, you are out. Your boyfriend will have to fail something to stay there for 1 more year (which is a dumb waste of time and money).

Do you happen to know if you can do an extra semester to upgrade or something? McMaster is a little too much with this policy.. I swear you can choose to stay at other schools.

Doubt it. I remember asking my academic adviser last year a question similar to that, and the answer was "no".

Still, tell that bf of yours to ask his academic adviser. They don't mind answering same questions, they get paid either way.

If he really wants to stay, why not drop a required course next term and just take it the next year winter term?
