Getting Credits from another University
Hey guys,
I messed up a little bit during my 1st year..I wanted to retake some courses this summer, but I live in Toronto,
Iam in engineering so I was wondering if I could upgrade my credits by retaking some courses in University of Toronto..
However Iam confused as to how I would go about doing that..Can someone guide me through this process? Is it even possible?

Courses taken at other universities do not affect your McMaster CA. If you still want to take courses at UofT which count towards your degree, you will have to find courses at UofT that are equivalent to those at McMaster, have them approved by an academic advisor and get a letter of permission to take the course. You are also responsible for registering for the course yourself, so you should contact UofT to figure out how to register as a part-time student. If you want to take a course at UofT without it counting towards your degree (taking a course for your own interest or for graduate/professional school) then you don't have to go through McMaster (Although I don't know if UofT will let you take a course with them without a letter of permission).

you can't take courses at other universities to upgrade your standing at McMaster. if you take courses at another place, they'll show up as complete or incomplete (need to get C+ for a complete). so if you need it as a prereq or something then MAYBE (but you need to figure out soon if they have equivalent courses, get a letter of permission, then wait for them to email you on how to register, then figure that all out etc). if you need to increase your cGPA then that won't really help you. this late in the game it's probably best to just take them at Mac if possible. maybe you can commute if they are just evening classes? just check the timetable to see if the course you want is offered and sign up in 2 minutes. anyways, GL!!!

Follow this link!
Hey,
I took two second year math courses at different university (Math 2p04 at Ryerson & 2zz3 at Athabasca),
check this link
wwwdotengdotmcmasterd otca/current/lopdothtml (replace "dot" with "." as there is a silly rule that I can't post a link until my 5th post)
Check the list for "pre approved equivalent courses" for the course you need and see if another university offers it (also check for on-line availability)
Then fill out the letter of permission form.
It's a pain in the butt to get a course approved that isn't on this list, as you need to submit a course outline for the course you want to take at another university; then have it approved by mac etc......
You need to see Sally Williams right away because once grade review starts (they need to figure out who goes into which 2nd year eng stream) she will be unavailable.
Also, as incorrectly stated above you only need to get a C- (4) to get a complete on your transcript.
If you are looking to increase your average to get into your desired 2nd year engineering discipline the courses that you take at another university won't count (check this with Sally).
Best of luck
