GPA and Transcript Questions
I'm thinking about applying for my Master's degree, and the school I'm applying to looks at the final 2 years of academic work.

I have taken courses at McMaster and another school, how would I combine my marks from both schools to calculate a GPA. (They work on a different grade scale).

Also, when I send my McMaster transcript, can I request that only my final year marks get sent, or do all my courses need to be on the transcript?

Thanks.

you have to send your whole transcript. They then take your grades on the McMaster system and the grading system of the other school and then convert it to their grading system and then determine your GPA.

But how does the weighting work out? Do they simply assume a 3-credit course at McMaster is equivalent to a 3-credit course at another school?

you are going to have to ask them. I am sure they have equivalents.

There are equivalencies. For example, a 3-unit course at mac is equivalent to 0.5 credit at some other schools. So they'd look at what the course was weighted at Mac and at the other school, and convert the weights to what they would be at the school you're applying to.
