With the goal to connect McMaster students with jobs related to sustainability, Simon Webb (graduate student) is working on a project entitled, Green Jobs: Bridging the Gap. The projects is focused on identifying the following:
1. What employers are looking for, including skills, abilities, certifications, experience, etc.;
2. What skills students have;
3. How McMaster can better prepare students for a future in sustainability.
Utilizing the findings, Simon hopes to implement at least one tangible outcome to support students in preparing for a career in sustainability. Examples may include: hosting a networking event, developing a job or volunteer board, hosting a speaker series, filming vignettes of sustainability professionals or developing a marketing/communication campaign.
Simon hopes to work with other students at the graduate and/or undergraduate level who are also interested in the research process and/or implementation of related programs.
