Hamilton-Toronto Commute
How much does it cost to go from Hamilton to Toronto?
(One-time trip as well as daily back and forth)
Also: how long does it take, on average? Best to use the GO bus thing or trains?
(Regular commute would be a job-related thing, and one-time would be for day trips)
Thanks a lot!

A one ride ticket is 9 bucks
If you get 10 rides its 80 dollars so 8 each.
From mac you can take the bus to burlington go station then take a train to union.
Or take the union express bus from Dundurn St or the hamilton Go station.

The bus is faster as long as you don't get caught in rush hour traffic. Ideally it takes 50-55 minutes, but I've had rides that took nearly two hours(toronto to hamilton).
The bus/train takes an hour and a half to go from mac to union station.
They cost the same. The price of one two-ride ticket is the same as two one-rides. 10 rides save some money. You can get a student discount for 10 ride tickets.

I'm currently commuting from Hamilton to Toronto for work this summer. If you're leaving during rush hour it's a better idea to take the train, but if you aren't, the QEW Express is much faster.

Agreed. QEW traffic in Burlington and Oakville can get absolutely brutal during rush hour.

That takes longer than some of the aforementioned options, and also isn't nearly as frequent in the summer as trips leaving from the downtown GO center.

That true, but it still comes every hour on the 45. So if your class ends at 20 then you just have to prepare in advance. If the class ends on the hour then you have time to get ready. Plus you save yourself money which adds up over the summer.

The buses from Mac that go to Union make you transfer on to a train, and there are about eight stops in-between.
The buses that are direct from mac to union pick up at the hamilton GO center

How long does it take with the route that transfers on to a train? How far is it from the campus to the Hamilton GO station?

I can time it next time. It takes about 2 hours for me to get fully home but that included the TTC subway at rush hour.
Campus to the GO Station is like less than 30 minutes, probably around 20-25.
