Iunno, I actually liked Nejat, I had him this summer for 1B03. True, you can't understand half the things he's saying, but he taught you to learn in a way that being in class is for learning, not mindlessly copying notes. Plus his accent is hilarious, especially when he's trying to be funny in the first place. :p

I definitely would, of all the first year Eng courses I had + the extras I took over the summer, he's easily been my favourite prof so far. But on the other hand, everyone else seems to say otherwise, so take that with a grain of salt.

I just really liked his teaching style I guess (granted, he may do things differently during the fall/winter term). He teaches of the mindset that when you're in class, you should be actively trying to learn and understand concepts, rather than just copy down notes. Because of that, he doesn't give you a lot of time to copy stuff, because important diagrams and stuff he puts online, and he has some pretty basic skeleton notes online as well. So it isn't really a class you can skip and just pull everything off the site, because he expects that you're actually understanding how to use the theory and apply to problems while you're in class (on the other hand you can, because it's basically Gr. 12 review for a lot of the course, and my Gr. 12 physics didn't teach us a lot). Because of this style, he also has a lot of iClicker questions to gauge people's knowledge, and tends to pick on people in class a lot for answers to his questions. It kinda sucks being randomly called on, but on the other hand it makes sure you're on the ball while you're there.

It depends on your learning style I guess, but I personally really liked him.

No probs, glad to help! I also meant to mention that even though he has a ridiculously thick accent, you can tell he definitely knows his stuff. And he also knows that people don't always understand him, so he'll always ask "ANY QUESTIONS?" a couple of times before moving on. He's pretty good about re-explaining stuff if asked.

He alwayyysss asked "ANY QVESTION" lol so its true that he wants you to follow, but I didn't quite find him very effective when I had him for L03...so the switch is under debate lol

Also, can anyone give input for Wilson?

Thanks everyone for all the advice!

I completely forgot that Wilson was also teaching first term, and technically I have her. Now the question is Wilson or Hughes? I might just have to find out in the first week of class.
(Can't do term 2 because of the way my timetable is set up)

Yes. Generally each professor will cover a given number of sections, before switching to the next prof for the term.

They are listed separately....not together, so they are teaching there own cores.

Also, any more solid advice on switching from Nejat's class second term to Wilson's first would be of great help, especially any details on Wilson!
And since Hughes is teaching two cores and Wilson is teaching only one...do you think the difficulty will be the same as if Hughes were alone? I'm afraid that since Wilson hasn't taught the course in a while and has mostly done upper year (astronomy related) courses she may not contribute... :S
