International Versions of Textbooks
hey guys I was wondering if anyone ever purchased an international version of a required textbook online, eBay/amazon and such. Is there a comparable difference between it and, i suppose, the 'Canadian/American' versions? Except for the cost of course.
any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Reda is right, I picked up my BioChem text book new (still in shrink wrap) for less than what they sell for used here and a part from a slight difference in title (Principals of BioChem rather than Fundamentals of BioChem), having a soft cover, and a big "Not For Sale in the US" sign on the side and back, it was identical to the ones my friends paid $130 for

I have done this for many classes and the only difference is the Cover + not for sale sign. everything else has been completely identical

It's like the smartest thing to do! I got ALL my books from ebay this year, for the price of ONE textbook from Titles :O

Okay, here is the thing.
-They typically cost $50
-They usually have same content, BUT, not always. For example, for a course 2nd year (2DI4) and a course last term (3TP4) i bought international editions, but we were required to do end of vchapter questions, and they were different! So I had to borrow a friend's book or acquire scans from the book from someone just for the question. The material is the same, but the practice is different.
-The quality is random. Sometimes you get good paper quality with glossy finish, sometimes its so thin it will rip with the slightest bit of force.
OVerall, its worth it for $50 though, so go for it.

Some international version books have different question numbers only, the questions itself are all the same as American version.
Btw, if you can source it, India versions are even cheaper (usually around $30 for my engineering text), but they are printed in lower quality paper.

Bought my first international textbooks this semester for a third of what the ones at titles sell for... and never gonna go back to buying from titles unless absolutely necessary.

I guess it's fine. The only concern would be if the course is in the faculty of social science or humanities, since canadian versions would be significantly different than american versions.

1. Find course title
2. Look up "<course title> outline"
3. Check required textbook
4. Chances are it will be the same, only a later edition
5. ???
6. Goto 1
(does not work if you're in one of those courses where you read novels n shet... assigned book changes from year to year, but science/lifesci/engineering/health tend to stick with the same kind of books, and if not, the content is similar enough)
