Jerimi Jones Wins Msu President

TOP ONGOING STORY:
JERIMI JONES WINS MSU PRELIMINARY VOTE COUNT

Preliminary tallies have taken place, and it's Jerimi Jones who came on top after vote distribution. The Presidential Results are pending the end of the Appeals Process. and any candidate has until 5:00pm on Friday February 15th, 2008 to submit any appeals to the Elections Committee. But until that happens, Jerimi Jones is queued to be our next MSU President!

Issues surrounding the disqualification of Joel Leavitt are still up in the air, as no official announcement has been made as to why his votes did not count. Possibilities of a recount and/or an appeal by Joel are possible, meaning there isn't an official winner yet.

More details to come as the week progresses. MacInsiders will be the first to let you know!

Hey, congrats to Jerimi for winning the preliminary election. However, I've heard that Joel Leavitt could have his disqualification rescinded and with a recount taking place it could still be a toss up between the two.

Regardless, should Jerimi come back on top he definitely deserves it, I just wouldn't jump the gun and begin the celebrations until things are set in stone.

Hi Chad,

As you know, any discussions between the elections committee and individual candidates are confidential and will not be released by anyone for any reason. It was stated on the previous post by a number of people that Mr. Leavitt feels that the reason for his disqualification is baseless and without merit. As such, Mr. Leavitt is appealing immediately and feels confident that the elections appeals committee will rule in his favour once they are presented with further evidence. Mr. Leavitt expects a recount to take place shortly.

I'm not completely sure on what grounds Joel was disqualified in the first place, only that it took since the closing of the polls on Wednesday at 4:30pm until his fines meeting at some point in the afternoon on Saturday for the committee to come up with some kind of grounds to oust him from the election. I've spoken to a few people close to the campaign who feel that they believe the appeals committee will give Joel fair merit at a chance of qualifying to compete in the recount later on this week.

I would personally like to see the official statement by the MSU regarding Joel's disqualification before trying to comment on my own personal beliefs in the merits of their claims.

I agree that this will be a very interesting week for anyone paying close attention to these races.
