kinesiolgy and psychology
So I have a dilemma. I can't take kines anymore for first year cause I just realized that I need math 1BO3 and possibly psych 1xx3, before I was planning on taking both kines 1Y03 and 1YY3.
anyways my question is that if I was interested in physiology second year do I need kines for first year or could I take it in summer school? It interests me but I dont really know the exact major I want thats why I am trying to take a range of courses. I might also be interested in psychology, neuroscience, behaviour, thats why I might be taking the seocnd pysch course.
Now I am all stressed out cause I didnt know that you needed math 1bo3 for bio/math second year until recently.

You actually don't need any of the kin courses to get into Biology (Physiology Specialization)
So you actually don't have to take them at all, but if you want you can take them during upper years....

Hey there nessa. From your message, it sounds like you're trying to pursue like 5 different programs at once. If you're planning on doing math/bio, here's the program requirements for first year:
http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...nt/pg1532.html
As you can see, you need to take
Bio 1M03, Bio 1A03
Math 1A03, Math 1AA3, Math 1B03
Chem 1A03, Chem 1AA3
So you'll have 3 more electives. Since Math 1b03 and aa3 are second semester courses, this will allow you to take like 2 first semester courses and 1 second semester course.
You could either do: Psych 1x03, kin 1y03, kin 1yy3
OR
Psych 1x03, psych 1xx3, kin 1y03
Although I'd probably recommend that you take physics
Good luck anyhow.

well if you are interested in physiology second year
u are NOT required to take kin.
your requirements are
Bio 1A03, 1M03 or 1AA3
both the psych 1X03 and 1XX3
Chem 1A03 and 1AA3
one of Math 1A03 or 1LS3
and Physics 1B03 or 1L03
they allow u to take physics during your second year too in case u can't take it in your first year.
here is the website for reference
http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /calen...nt/pg1533.html
but i took KIN 1Y03 and 1YY3 and i enjoyed them a lot in my first year. If you are interested in learning human body you should go for atleast one of them.

Hopefully this helps, I'm currently a physiology student at McMaster : )
1) You don't need Kin to get into physiology second year. I haven't taken a kin course yet and I'm not required to. There is, however, a physiology course list where you are required to take a certain number of units to complete your degree.
Physiology Course List
BIOLOGY 2L03, 3AA3, 3B03, 3F03, 3FF3, 3K03, 3M03, 3MM3, 3R03, 3S03, 3SS3, 3TT3; KINESIOL 2C03, 2CC3, 3Y03, 4C03, 4CC3; MED PHYS 4B03; ORIGINS 2FF3; PSYCH 2D03, 2E03, 2F03, 2N03, 2TT3, 3A03, 3F03, 3FA3, 3J03, 3S03, 3T03, 4Y03
With respect to your interest in psychology, as you can see there are a lot of psych courses under the physiology course list and there's a major emphasis in neurology and sensory processes. As a result, I'm minoring in psych : ). This is also an option.

Like everyone else has said, you don't need to take Kin to get into the Physiology program. However, the two kin's are NOT offered in the summer (or at least has not yet been offered to my knowledge), so an option would be to 'sample' 1 kin course & 1 psych course at least to give you an idea of what both are about.
Both 1st year Psychs (1X03 & 1XX3) are generally offered in the summer, by the way.

as long as you pass the course you will have passed the requirements before your second year course begins so the requirement will be met

If you want to take KIN 2C03/2CC3, it's a good idea to take 1Y03 and 1YY3.
From the 2C03 outline:
"The course builds upon the foundation of knowledge gained through the KINESIOL 1A03 and 1AA3 (Anatomy and Physiology) courses, and students will be expected to be familiar with fundamental concepts previously introduced during their first year of study. "

You don't need to have taken Kin 1Y03/1YY3 in order to do well in Kin 2C03/2CC3. The material in Kin 2CC3 (at least) builds on material from first year kin, but enough is covered in Bio 2A03 for you to understand and do reasonably well. I know a few people who took only Bio 2A03 and did well in the class.

Thanks. I haven't taken Bio 2A03 and didn't know what it covered.

Yeah, I heard the same thing about 2C03. A lot of my physio friends didn't take 1st year Kin and the material in 2A03 was adequate. : )
