I took it last year with Dr. Dej. If you've had her before then you'd know that shes absolutely awesome as a professor. Her tests are extremely fair and her lecturing style is interesting as well.
That said, I was not so impressed with Life Sci 2A03. Basically, it started off interesting, talking about research methods - the scientific method, hypothesis testing etc. then it took off into a much more biology based course.
Although the overall focus of the course was research methods, this was only reflected in the work very briefly. We had weekly tutorials that counted for marks (very easy marks) and it was here that the "research" part really came in b/c you read articles then discuss them.
There was also a group presentation, very simple based on a disease of your choice, outlining the basis for stem cell treatment.
Stem cells were a major focus of the course last year and we also wrote an essay based on the "stem cell niche" which was an extremely interesting concept.
If you're looking for a true "research methods" course, I don't think this is the best choice, but if you're just looking for a fun, interesting course then this course is great.
Also, just as a side note: there was no final exam!
Finally, last year was the first time this course was offered and Dr. Dej was very open to feedback so I'm sure things will change this year as well.
