I'm actually in Humanities now, and was a combined Humanities/Soc Sci for my first degree. So there.
I know they have a lot of stuff in their MacPass cuz I helped stuff it two years in a row, and got a Soc Sci MacPass when I was in first year.

Each faculty is different every year and it really depends on the planners that are working Welcome Week that year. We can't tell you what exactly will be in the swag bag because either we don't know (if we're not planners we don't know) and if we do know we can't tell you because that gives you an unfair advantage over other students.
There is no such thing as any faculty being any better than any other.

yes. get the macpasses early. i rmb when i moved in i moved in during the afternoon and spent alot of time unpacking some stuff. when i got to the macpass tent all the t-shirts were either L or XL. The XL was like a dress on me. haha. oh well i sleep in it anyways, but yeah there weren't alot of stuff left so i didn't have as much stuff in my bag compared to my friends that were in the same faculty and res as me. they ran out of stuff, unfortunately.. so get it early!!!!!

so just wondering.
what events can you go to if you don't have the macpass?
but reading your posts, i am definitely, almost a 100% sure, getting one.
the thing is, i don't think i'll be going to faculty night, so i feel like it'd be a waste to get a macpass and not go to the faculty night..
i feel like i'm wrong about this one though lol.

Your fee for the faculty part doesn't just pay for faculty night.. it's also for all the swag and faculty day.. I know Science invests the largest portion of the fee to the stuff that goes for everyone so yea no worries..

You can attend some events, but not all of them.

ruggedman - you just miss out on the cool stuff they're giving out. and the free lunch for faculty day. LOL
those are the things that make me want to buy the macpass. LOL
ALSO. i hate how ppl are telling me that the macpass is pretty much useless. that u'll never meet the ppl u met there again.

So... I want to say... even if you don't see or hear from or hang out with the people you meet at the Welcome Week events, I don't think you should count it as entirely useless. I am speaking as someone who is just as cynical about you as to how effective Welcome Week really is for meeting people. But... if you (or I) don't give it a chance, we definitely won't meet anybody or make new friends.
