making up a credit and failing a course..

I'm in health aging and society the B.A and i have already dropped a course before november 12th. Will I be able to take an extra course in second term to make up for that? I'm doing so well in all my classes though, except for anthro- human species (i havent taken a sciency course since grade 10).. and i am worried i might fail it. If i fail a course, does that mean i HAVE to take it in summer school? because I'm able to be accepted into third year H.A and Society with 54 units, and at the moment I have 57 so I can still "drop" another 3 unit course. So will i havee to take summer school, or can I just make it up for the failing class in third year?

Also, what happens if you drop a course after the deadline, its failure by default right? What about if your on osap and the financial consequences? So I might as well try and pass the exam rather than just dropping it..
