I got an assignment back in one of my classes that was somehow marked 25.8/30, when the grading sheet went by whole and half values. (And aside from that, how in the name of Jehovah's catfish do you justify taking off .2 of a grade on assignment worth 30 marks? This is madness!)

Anyway, because of that mark, my grade was .2% away from an A. As Snake once said: "Close but no donut, copper"

Lol I've seen that sort of thing happen to my assignments plenty times myself.

Is there a purpose of arguing this?

Its just how mac does it, they won't change because some think its "unfair"

I had once gotten 89.96% in a course (A single additional mark on the final would have sufficed). I went in to see the professor, since I felt I had "12'd it for sure" and found out all of my grades and the raw calculation. (He even pulled it up on his laptop for me, encrypted by student number). Asking him to roll up the mark, he simply told me "You know, there are infinitely many numbers between 89.96 and 90."

I suppose I should laugh now, but I was a bit upset at the time.

Completely agree.

If they changed it to, let's say, 89.5 for a 12 then everyone with an 89.4 would start complaining.
