Math 1LS3
So, the first math 1LS3 test is this thursday. For those of you who had it in the past, what would you say the best way to prepare for it is? Also, how difficult are the tests usually? Thanks!

Wouldn't studying be the best way to prepare for it?
It depends what you mean by difficult. Is math hard for you? Then... probably very difficult.

I meant as in focus more on textbook questions or the coursepack, or equally on both. I'm generally good in math but I just wanted to hear some opinions from those who already did the course

Math is sort of the same no matter what material you do... read a concept, then do questions on that concept either until you exhaust them all or until you know you get it.
The book's good for that. If you feel like it might be a bit tougher than you expected, honestly, I'd recommend doing every single exercise you see.

I haven't really taken that course, but if you want to do good in math you have to practice a lot. Math is about practice...it's also helpful to look at old/sample tests if they are available.

Just found a course review for it:

make sure you are able to solve every single question from the assignments, it is very important and somewhat similar
also do know how to solve previous test questions by heart
and review examples from the notes and test yourself, not just by reading as you go
and when you seat in the test, you will feel like there are tons of questions, but calm down
as long as you know how to do every question, you will be able to solve all of them!!!

definitely do all of the assignment questions and thoroughly understand how to do each one! I found assignments to be super similar to the test questions. Personally for the first test, I did a bunch of textbook questions for specific areas where I thought I was struggling, but only because it had been such a long time since I had done any sort of math (aka i didn't know how to graph anything ). When you do get to the test, read the multiple choice and true false VERY carefully. I remember after the first test there was a ton of complaining abt people getting either mc or t/f wrong and losing 2-3 points off the test (one wrong multiple choice = 7% off your final test grade. brutal, i know)

I didn't find the first test too hard, but I know lots of people that didn't study enough because they thought this was all just high school review. They ended up not doing well at all, so just practice a bunch till transformations and everything else become second nature! The content on this first test also creates the foundation for the rest of the course so if there's anything you want to know really well, it's this stuff

Good luck and don't be too nervous!
