LOL wow I don't think that petition worked last year =p. The new rules on the midterms look like it will cause mass destruction.

However the addition of webwork to the course looks good

The test will consist both full-answer questions and multiple-choice questions. IMPORTANT:

• For the full-answer questions, the answers have to be entered in a box. No part marks will be given if the answer is wrong (unless a ``small'' computational mistake is the reason for the wrong answer) or not justified.
• For the multiple-choice questions, a correct answer need to be justified. If the work shown to arrive at an answer is not shown or not correct, no mark will be given.

Good luck to anyone with that midterm, I'm thinking that you'll need it ._..

Any engineer that took that course knows that it was mostly luck that got them out of that course. They took that element out =o.

yea complained to the dean and all.. nothing will happen till test 2.. omfg that test is in 1 hour. and what petition last year.. -_-

That was the petition from last year. It seemed to anger Garbado lol, the exam seemed hard last year and now these new rules on the first midterm are ridiculous.

You never know though the midterm still didn't happen so he could change his mind on the rules or end up giving everyone a 20% boost when everyone ends up failing lol.

Makes me glad I'm already done second year math.... forever.

Im done with 2zz3 but I would sign a petition that would bring better course evaluations to mathematics in particular. Especially if they were online.

I dont see it ever happening but I would love to see an engineering prof or administrator supervise over eng math. That way if a math prof was going to do some of the crazy things gabardo is doing this year, then they could be vetoed.

The thing i found with the math test we (that ended an hour ago) was that it was straightforward, but the marking scheme will bring down the average. It wasnt as poorly worded or confusing as previous years

Well that's a relief, at least they made the test questions easier, Im interested to see what the class average will be.

How many questions were on the test? I found last years midterms to be hard to finish on time and that's without having to do full justification for answers.

Was time a factor?

I guess if the questions were worded properly the first midterm wouldn't be to bad lol. The vector material was pretty straightforward. Fourier might still be challenging/time consuming though.

6 long answer with parts and 5 multiple choice. Time was definitely a factor.

I would not say the test was easier than before. I found the test fom 2010 and under "test conditions" i was able tocomplete it and the question were more straightforward

I ran out of time too but got answers for everything even if it was just scribbles in case it was right. im really curious what the average will be with the new marking scheme

i think i failed this one. 2010 was def more straightforward/easier. this one i sorta knew how to do it but that didnt count cuase guess what, no part marks = 0

lol some times people in engineering are such babies. Yeah it was a hard test, yeah it was a pretty intense way to mark it.. a petition for what? more marks? we all wrote the same test and they're going to bell it. *shrug* do your best and move on
