So I want to get into the CogSci program next year and am wondering what electives I should take first year.
I'd like to know if I need a math, more specifically 1M03.

It looks like you only need linguistics 1A03, 1AA3 and psych 1F03 or 1X03, so I don't think so. If you want to see the first year prerequisites and upper year courses that you would be taking, look up mcmaster honours cognitive science of language academic calendar and that should give you all of the information.
