MCMASTER EXAM HOURS + De-stressor Events!

 
McMaster University begins the fall exam period on Friday, December 7. Various offices and services across campus offer expanded hours and service delivery during the exam period. In addition, many departments have de-stressor events planned for the month of December.

MSU Food Collective Centre and MSU First Year Council
FCC and FYC are collaborating to run sessions with coffee and food in a quiet, late-night space for students to study in on December 9, 11, 14, and 16 from 8:00PM - 12AM in MUSC rooms (TBD). All students are welcome. In addition, FYC is hosting First Year Chill in Bridges on December 6 from 8:30PM - 10PM, an event designed for students to study or destress, featuring smoothies, music, colouring, and slime-making.

MSU Maccess
Maccess is excited to offer an exam de-stressor in collaboration with the Student Accessibility Services (SAS) McMaster Transition Program. There will be materials provided for the creation of exam self-care packages in the Maccess space (MUSC B111) on Thursday, December 6 from 1:30PM - 4:30PM.

MSU SHEC and MSU Maroons
SHEC and Maroons are collaborating to deliver exam care packages to students this exam season for their annual #SHECares campaign. The care packages have some small snacks and treats, along with a few de-stressor items. Those interested are encouraged follow both SHEC and the Maroons on Facebook to keep up to date with the campaign and hear about self-care tips. Volunteers will be delivering the packages to libraries across campus on December 11, 12, and 13, from 3:30PM - 5:00PM.

MSU Pride Community Centre
The PCC is hosting a Non-Denominational Winter Holiday Shebang on December 5th in MUSC 214 from 12:30PM - 4:30PM. The event is a drop-in, end of semester celebration where LGBTQ2SI+ and questioning people, as well as their friends, are welcome to come by and decorate some cookies or have a hot chocolate in the safe(r) social space.

Compass Information Centre
The 2018 - 2019 exam / holiday hours of operation for Compass are the following:

Exam Period (December 5 - December 20, 2018)
Monday to Friday: 11:30AM - 5:30PM
Saturday: 11AM - 3PM
Compass is closed for the holidays from:
Friday, December 21, 2018 - Sunday, January 6, 2019.
Regular hours of operation resume Monday, January 7, 2019.

The Pulse + free yoga and meditation classes
The Pulse is open for the following regular term hours until December 16:

Monday to Friday: 6:00AM - 12:30AM
Saturday and Sunday: 8:30AM - 10:30PM
The Pulse has the following exam hours from December 17 - 23:

Monday to Friday: 6:00AM - 11:00PM (Locker rooms open until 11:30PM)
Saturday and Sunday: 8:30AM-5:00PM (Locker rooms open until 5:30PM)
The Mindfulness Centre in DBAC is also open to students for meditating, breathing, or stretching. In this space, there are free exam stress relief yoga and meditation classes being offered by McMaster Athletics & Recreation. The 55 minute-long classes are are open and free only to McMaster students, DBAC members, non-member staff, and faculty. They are drop-in and no registration is required, however space is limited.

Sunday, December 9, 2018 - 7:00PM to 7:55PM
Monday, December 10, 2018 - 6:00PM to 6:55PM
Tuesday, December 11, 2018 - 5:30PM to 6:25PM
Wednesday, December 12, 2018 - 6:00PM to 6:55PM
Thursday, December 13, 2018 - 12:00PM to 12:55PM
Thursday, December 13, 2018 - 8:00PM to 8:55PM
Sunday, December 16, 2018 - 7:00PM to 7:55PM
The dates and times for Meditation - Exam Stress Relief are on Wednesdays from November 21, 2018 to December 12, 2018 from 5:00PM - 5:55PM.

Libraries
The annual McMaster Libraries Toy and Food Drive in support of local Hamilton charities is now happening, ending December 19, 2018. Non-perishable food items, new/unwrapped toys for children up to the age of 16, gift certificates for teens, and sports equipment are encouraged. Donation boxes are located at Innis, Mills and Thode Libraries.

Innis Library

Innis is open from 8:30AM until 1:45AM for a silent late night study, Monday through Thursday. On Friday, Innis is open from 8:30AM - 10:45PM. On Saturday, the hours are 10:30AM - 5:45PM. On Sunday, the hours are 1:00PM - 7:45PM. There are special hours on December 20 from 8:30AM - 7:45PM, and on December 21 from 9:00AM - 4:45PM.

Mills Library

Mills Library is open from 8:00AM - 10:45PM, Monday through Friday. On Saturday, Mills is open from 10:30AM - 10:45PM, and from 12PM - 10:45PM on Sunday. The Learning Commons is open 24/7 Monday through Sunday. There are special hours on December 20 from 8:00AM - 8:00PM in the library and Learning Commons. On December 21, only the library is opening from 9:00AM - 4:45PM.

Thode Library

Thode is open 24/7 Monday through Sunday until December 19. There are special hours on December 20 from 8:00AM - 8:00PM and December 21 from 9:00AM - 4:45PM.

Health Sciences Library

HSL is open from 8:00AM until 10:45PM Monday through Thursday. On Friday, HSL is open from 8:00AM - 9:45PM. On Saturday, the hours are 10:00AM - 5:45PM. On Sunday, the hours are 10:00AM - 10:45PM. There are special hours on December 21 from 9:00AM - 4:45PM.

This holiday season, HSL is collecting pre-packaged snacks, including granola bars, dried fruit, crackers, snack-sized bags of chips, and juice boxes to be donated to the close by Ronald McDonald House. These food donations are to help ensure their kitchens remain full during this busy time of year. Donors will be entered in a draw to win one of 3 available prize packs.
