Correct. You'll get a 2nd wave of OSAP in January, but you initially have to pay that 1600 out of pocket.

You only receive 60% of your OSAP in September that can go toward your tuition. If you choose payment in full, you will have to pay whatever isn't covered by OSAP. Then in January you will receive the last 40% of OSAP which will go into your Bank (Remember to bring a void check so they know which account to deposit the money in)

When do you think they'd open the McMaster scholarship option for first years?

In first year, I got my entrance scholarship on July 20th. So feel free to use that as a soft approximation

Weirdd I just checked about 2 hrs ago.. and only the residence/meal plan section was updated. Guess it's different for first years.. since the final marks for high school is still by mid-July or something. :(

I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard that for first years, this scholarship is not renewable for 2 years now. I've no idea though, can anyone shed light on that? If that's true, that's really lame for incoming students.

Hmmm, it looks like it: http://sfas.mcmaster.ca/entrance.html
Usually it would say the total amount, so if it was for 2 years, all those numbers would be doubled. Then there would have been a note saying that the scholarship would be payed in 2 years with the condition that the student maintains a 9.5 average.

Yikes. From 4 to 2 to 1. It's unfortunate, partially because other schools offer a lot more and because there's less money to help you out.
