More than 6 Units at Summer School
Hello,

Im in first year engineering and i dropped Physics in the first semester and i am taking it in summer school. The thing is that i failed programming this semester so i have to do it in summer school as well.
The policy is that you can only take 6 units in 1 summer term but mine are 7 (programming 4, physics 3). And both of them are only available in the first term of the summer. Does this mean i have to redo first year or is there anything i can do about it?. i dont know what to do, im really worried.

http://www.eng.mcmaster.ca/eng1/requirements.html

This link shows that you need 31 credits all from:
Chem 1E03
Engineer 1A00, 1C03, 1D04, 1P03
Matls 1M03
Math 1N03, 1NN3, 1H03
Physics 1D03, 1E03

I'm not sure if your programming course you are talking about is engineer 1D04, but if it's not then I think you are good if you take physics. You would still considered for a second year program and you can take the course next year. Otherwise I can't help much since I'm not in engineering or even in upper years so I wowuldn't know what to do, sorry.

A friend of mine is taking both physics and math in the summer and had the same problem. Solar wouldn't let him sign up because he had more than 6 units a term. He went in and talked to Sally Williams and she fixed it. She's really easy to talk to and will help you out

you won't have to redo first year, because people doing math and physics have 7 or 8 units per summer term.

You just have to get a course overload form filled out. I took 7 units in one term last summer and I had no problem with getting it done.
