Moving In Question
Would it be okay if some of my stuff are in plastic storage bins without lids? (They can fit to close :/ ) Would that be a problem for the upper years moving the stuff into res? Also, would it be a good idea to bring a standing floor lamp? Would I need it or are the rooms generally bright enough for working in? Thank you!!

it should be ok, they just load all of your boxes onto shopping carts but to be on the safe side you should try to use lids. move in can be pretty crazy and you want to make sure nothing falls out and gets broken.

As for the floor lamp, the rooms have florescent lighting so they are really bright. plus the rooms come with a desk lamp so you definitely have enough light for working in.

hope this helps!

I brought a standing lamp. It's a nice option to have, especially if you're working late at night and don't want the harsh glare of a fluorescence lamp, or if your roommate is asleep (because you can direct the light of an independent standing lap better)

I would recommend asking your parents to hang around for a few moments and seeing whether there's enough space in your room for a standing lamp, adn if you decide to go against it, you can always return it.

It'll be easier to bring it and give it back, than vice versa

Very helpful. Yeah that's what I'm probably going to end up doing. Thank you!

The rooms are generally bright enough, but having a lamp for yourself with an adjustable head is always good if you're the type to study in your room and your room mate is asleep.

i encourage you to check with the res manager before you bring in the lamp. last year, during december move-out, room inspections were done, and some students were asked to take their lamp home as it was considered a fire hazard. you could also just take it home with you when you leave for christmas break.
